In cases where this sideband connection has been established, Windows will detect the enclosure management device and show it in Device Manager as an Adaptec Virtual SGPIO SCSI Enclosure Management Device. This device will be moved to the "Other Devices" section, because there is no embedded Windows driver available that would allow its automatic installation.As the communication on the SGPIO bus is handled completely on the hardware level, there is no necessity of installing a Windows driver for this device.However the Adaptec RAID controller driver downloads also include an "adpenc" INF and a related CAT file for the supported Windows OSes that can be loaded optionally for this management device to "cosmetically" move the enclosure device into the System Device section of Device Manager.Note: There is no actual functionality associated by loading these files and this device could as well be ignored.

I want to monitor the raid status of my esxi 5.0 system within the vSphere client. Afaik the built in controller is an adaptec 5405 ( -de/downloads/vmware/vmware_esx/productid=sas-5405&dn=adaptec+raid+5405.htm...). On the adaptec website are only drivers for vphere 4.1.
